You make my day

I have been nominated for this award by both Sharon and Nellie, thankyou so much ladies.
The rules for the “You Make My Day” award are to re-present it to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blog land. Let them know through email or by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times, and if you do, consider yourself really, really loved.
Only 10!!!!!!! how on earth can I get it down to 10, there are so many talented and lovely people whos blogs give me a thrill when I visit that it really wouldn't be fair to pick just 10, so a major cop out here, I'm going to give it to everyone in my list of favourite blogs as they all make my day.

My favourite colour(s)

The theme on this weeks make Make a Moo or Two site is 'favourite colour'

I love so many colours and so to make the choice easier I narrowed it down to the new alcohol inks that arrived this morning.

This one I used denim and stonewashed inks and a little bit of silver Krylon pen added. The stamp is by Non-sequitar.
This moo I used latte and butterscotch on the back of a piece of acetate that had the seed head stamped on it in Stazon. I layered this on top of a piece of card that I stamped with the diamond background, both stamps by Crafty Individuals.

Wednesday Stamper- Bookmarks

Hermine set the challenge this week on WS:-

This week I challenge you to come out from behind your book and make a bookmark. So that after having had a relaxing read you can put a gorgeous piece of artwork in there to enjoy it even more.

It has been quite some time since I played along with one of these challenges but thought this was a great theme and got stuck in.

More Moos

A nice long chilly walk

As the sun was shining and the sky was blue we thought we'd take advantage and go out for a walk, little did I realise how cold it would be and how long the walk would be, about 6 miles and the car thermometer read a chilly -6. We wrapped up really well and got trudging.

We went to Sutton Park, this is the write up about the park

Sutton Park is Birmingham's largest park, covering 2,400 acres consisting of woodlands, heathlands and wetlands. The entire park was recently designated a National Nature Reserve by English Nature.

It is the home for a wide variety of wildlife, many species uncommon elsewhere in the West Midlands region. Visitors benefit from a true countryside experience, remarkably within 10 Km (6 miles) of the very heart of the City. The Visitor Centre contains displays and information related to the park.

The park is a remnant of an extensive forest that used to cover much of the Midlands. Sutton Park has retained many ancient features including prehistoric mounds and ruins as well as a Roman road making it of great interest to historical enthusiasts.

People use the park for a great variety of reasons: walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, jogging, kite flying, canoeing, sailing and orienteering are among the pastimes the park's annual 2 million visitors enjoy.

A canvas

This didn't turn out quite as I thought it would, but I thought I'd show it all the same.

Spring arch

I've joined a spring Gothic Arch swap, this is my contribution.
The backgrouns is layers of paint, ink and stamping.

Moo cards

I have avoided Moo cards for ages as the size scared me, it sounded too much like inchies, which I cannot do for the life of me, but when my friend Nellie started the new challenge blog Make a Moo or Two I wanted to have a go. The theme for the first challenge on MAMOT is Romance.
The couple images are downloaded from Lisa Vollraths Go Make Something site. The background is one of my own that I played around with in a photo editing package.
I qite enjoyed making these and they are so much easier than inchies so will be making this a regular challenge, thanks Nellie :o).

A whiter shade

I love having time to play, and I love making things just for the sake of it even more. I like the tone on tone look and wanted to do a very pale background to go with the image, and what is paler than white.

Background to share

I've been making a few backgrounds recently and I decided that I would see what I could come up with if I photgraphed said backgrounds and had a play with some photo editing software, I had great fun and some great results. I thought I'd share a few with you to use in your art work. I'd love to see what you come up with so please leave me a link.

It makes me smile

My leave from work began yesterday, two whole weeks of doing what I want, so I am crafting and enjoing every minute of it. I did sort out a box of 'stuff' that has been lurking under my bed for months. It was full of those bits and pieces that I'd sidelined in favour of new item, like pattened papers. I found a few sheets of K&Co 6x6 papers and this poppy one was amongst it. I've always loved this paper but could never successfully make anything with it, until I came up with this piece. I chopped up the sheet of paper and played around until I liked what I saw. I then made my background using several layers of acrylic paints and basically put the two together.

It is really a miserable day outside, heavy rain and bitter cold but this piece just shouts sunshine to me and had put a smile on my face.

Thanks for looking an thankyou for taking time to leave comments, I really appreciate it.

Egypt 6x6

I am taking part in a 6x6 swap, the theme is Egypt. I did begin to wonder why on earth I signed up for it as I realised I don't own anything remotly Egyptian so I really had to think hard on this one. I decided the best way to go was with colour, the blues and golds we associate with Egypt, and I had to have the obvious pyramids didn't I.
The background I did using ink pads, some gold dimensional paint which I applied with an old credit card and then I sprayed some glimmer spray mist, that I was sent by Joanne some time back and only after Jo mentioned I should try them I remembered I did have this one bottle, so thanks to you both girls.
